News on Street Space Co. Durham

Thank you to all 522 people who have made 2,650 contributions to the Street Space County Durham consultation. We are thrilled that so many people have had the opportunity to join this initiative. It is clear that lockdown has changed travel demands with almost 50% of you reporting that you were going to use your car less over the coming months. We want to support this move to more active travel and retain the positive impacts this has for you and your community with quieter streets, improved air quality and better health.

Although we aren't able to respond to all the comments individually, we will feedback through this page and the Durham County Council website.

The consultation has already helped to inform where we are allocating funding through the Emergency Active Travel Fund and work has started on site today to make safer spaces for people on foot and on cycle around Pity Me. You can find out more here https://www.durham.gov.uk/activetravel .
